The initiative to amount the rehabilitation, justification and propaganda of Nazism to extremism will help to stop its spread. Which is happening today in Ukraine and the Baltic States, said Professor Yury Zhdanov, President of the International Police Association Russian Section.
Earlier, at the international scientific and practical forum ‘The Khabarovsk Process: Historical Significance and Contemporary Challenges,' Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov proposed to amount the rehabilitation, justification and propaganda of Nazism to extremist activity. According to him, this decision will expand the possibilities of countering ‘such phenomena,’ as well as eliminate gaps in legal regulation. It will also have ‘political significance for preserving historical memory and strengthening Russia’s position at the international level to prevent falsification of facts about the USSR practices during the Second World War.’
‘Extremism and the justification of Nazism are aimed at destabilising society, which is extremely dangerous in multinational Russia. We have to nip in the bud attempts to justify or rehabilitate Nazism. Otherwise, we will get a situation like in Ukraine and the Baltic States, where, in fact, Nazism has been glorified. The measures proposed by the Prosecutor General of Russia will make it possible to more effectively resist such attempts not only in Russia but also abroad,’ Professor Zhdanov stressed.
